OPCA is an office of the NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services having regulatory control, as well as funding and program assistance, over the administration of county probation and the City of New York probation departments and over the use of correctional alternative programs throughout the state.

OPCA does NOT:

provide the general public with the name(s) or lists of individuals currently or previously sentenced to a term of probation or otherwise receiving a probation disposition;

provide the general public with information on an individual's criminal/juvenile history or current criminal/juvenile justice status, oversee, in any capacity, local jails or state prisons

supervise inmates released from any local jail or state correctional facility. State inmates who are granted parole and released from the custody of the New York State Department of Correctional Services are under the supervision of the New York State Division of Parole located at 97 Central Avenue, Albany, New York 12206, or (518) 473-9400 or http://parole.state.ny.us.

provide individual legal services or advice or interfere in any pending cases, violation proceedings or appeals. If you need legal advice you should contact a local attorney or Bar Association or visit the New York State Bar Association website at http://www.nysba.org (look under Lawyer Referral and Information Service) or call them, toll-free, at 1-800-342-3661. If you have a legal problem and cannot afford a lawyer, contact the public defense organization in your community. Those seeking services as a victim of crime should contact the New York State Office of Victim Services at www.cvb.state.ny.us/home.aspx. The New York State Department of Correctional Services also has an Office of Victim Services that can help with victim notification services (VINE) when an offender's custody status changes.
