This program began operation in 1985. Agency services are primarily assessment, court advocacy, counseling, enhanced information service, intensive supervision, education and monitoring. This program also refers clients for job placement assistance, alcoholism treatment and residential services. Target populations are age 16 and above, non-violent, alcohol and drug offenders.

This program began operation in 1984. Agency services are aimed at reducing incarceration in selected jurisdictions in upstate New York and in New York City. This program secures short-term residential treatment and outpatient treatment as alternatives-to-incarceration for drug-or alcohol-involved pretrial detainees and also for convicted offenders or parolees who need substance abuse treatment.

This program began in 1979. The Intensive Supervision Program (ISP) is an Alternative to Incarceration operation provided to superior courts and Local Conditional Release Commissions by participating probation departments. ISP offers a credible sentencing and community supervision option for offenders who would otherwise be incarcerated. Agency services provided are primarily eligibility assessments, court ordered restrictions, monitoring, field supervision and intensive supervision.

This program began operation in 1985. This project provides all criminal court clients, initially unable to post bail, the opportunity to be interviewed to determine eligibility for release from jail. The interview process objectively assesses the defendant's qualifications for release through release on his/her own recognizance (ROR), or, where the court determines the risk of absconding to be greater, through release under supervision (RUS). Program operations include screening, eligibility determinations, monitoring functions where appropriate, and court notification of those who fail to satisfy release requirements.

This is an agency of county government. Agency services include the preparation of pre-sentence investigations and reports for the criminal courts and the supervision of criminals sentenced to probation. Investigation and supervision functions are also provided for criminals released from the jail by the Local Conditional Release Commission. Intake, investigation and supervision services are provided for Family Court. Many discretionary services for pretrial and alternative sentencing are also provided. This county probation department participates in PINS (Person In Need of Supervision) Adjustment services programming.

Beginning in 1985, this agency's services are primarily bail expediting, court advocacy, enhanced information service and release planning. This program also refers clients for assessment services, batterers programs, community service, domestic violence, counseling, educational services, family services, job placement assistance, mediation, rehabilitation, recreational services, monitoring, mental health and substance abuse services.

TASC, Treatment Alternatives to Street Crimes, began in 1984. It currently serves primarily felony offenders and parole violators who are in need of alcohol and/or drug rehabilitation. TASC also operates the Drug Court in Rensselaer County and a small transitional residence at the same address. The project staff screens for alcohol and substance abuse problems, prepares written treatment plans, and insures that clients with treatment conditions comply with court orders.
